After his 2015 and 2016 artist-in-residence stays on Föhrt the Husum-born and Hamburg-based painter Jochen Hein showed his work in not one but two exhibitions: Above the Depth and Beyond Time. On view were masterfully painted, life-size portraits of contemporaries who seem to appear out of a black nowhere, realistic views of the sea, landscapes, and grass pieces as well as the completely independent “hair pieces”.
Also visually impressive were the small-scale works on hand-made paper of the Alkersum Marsh, the so-called “Ferring Sessions” which he created during his stay on Föhr.
