Trine Søndergaard

The works of Danish photo artist Trine Søndergaard (b. 1972) range from documentary and diary-like photo series to conceptual photography. In recent years she has focussed especially on the subjects of landscape and portrait. Four years prior to her stay as artist-in-residence Trine Søndergaard already showed her photo series Strude at the Museum Kunst der Westküste. The 2012 exhibition Trine Søndergaard. Strude featured portraits of women and girls in traditional costumes. In 2016 her work was on view in the exhibition Empty Rooms. The Beauty of Emptiness and in 2017 in Reload! Traditional Attire – Art – Fashion. In August 2016 she created two works especially for the latter: Surrigap. Dress of Mourning I and Surrigap. Dress of Mourning II.
