Nino Kvrivishvili, born in 1984, is a young Georgian artist living and working in Tbilisi, Georgia. She studied Textile Design at Tbilisi State Academy of Art (2001-2017) and was part of artist in residency programs by Frauenkulturbüro NRW e.V., Dusseldorf and Goch, Germany; Binz39 Zurich; Achterhaus Residency in Hamburg and KKKC Residency in Klaipeda, Lithuania.
Nino Kvrivishvili’s works with textile installations. Her resent projects are focused on processes of changes, investigation of history and inverting them in a new reality with colours, shapes, patterns and textures. Most of her textile works constitute by depiction of abstract images and are charged with narrative meaning. She tries to integrate history in debates and to unlock the stories far longer and more dramatic. She intends to see how images and materials unfold through history by transforming traditional textile making into contemporary art both formally and conceptually.
She has exhibited extensively in Georgia and abroad. Her recent shows include the artist’s solo exhibitions at Binz39, Zurich, Switzerland; State Silk Museum, Tbilisi, Georgia; Gallery Melike Bilir, Hamburg, Germany and KKKC, Klaipeda, Lithuania; her works were included in group exhibitions – WHERE IS MY TIME, Weltkunstzimmer, Dusseldorf, Germany; I AM THE MOUTH , Museum for Contemporary Art, Zagreb, Croatia; Karlo Kacharava Today, D.Shevardnadze National gallery, Tbilisi, Georgia; Półprawda / Half-Truth, the Museum of Sculpture at Królikarnia.
